What happens when a teenage girl born in the early days of the 21st century pines for the good old days of the 1940s and 50s, when life was simpler and pop music had that swing? She hops in her Time Machine and turns back the dial to the days of Boogie Woogie, of course!
A bright new voice emerges from the Deep South – home of the blues and rock ‘n roll and gospel – all coming together in this delightful debut album from Ella Rodgers. Time Machine contains a mix of tunes from the early 1900s and Ella's original compositions. Instrumentals on piano (such as rags, a la Scott Joplin) are mixed in with several songs which tell a story of someone who longs for the "good old days." The title track says it all! Ella is delivering to modern audience a sound and aesthetic which goes against the grain of what the music industry is producing en masse. The album has found to have appeal to younger and older audiences alike, with both young children and teens responding by dancing and older people tapping their feet - uplifting and catchy, Time Machine will surely leave a song or two stuck in your head for a few days!
